FT. Lauderdale to Chicago 10th Feb 2010

FT. Lauderdale to Chicago 10th Feb 2010

Almost Valentine's Day and I am on my way back to Chicago after a few days spent at the office in Ft.Lauderdale.
Despite the snowstorm in the Midwest, my flight with Southwest is perfectly on time, which is a big relief: not looking forward to the cold weather in Chicago, but of course I want to be home and see my husband as soon as possible.
Florida was beautiful, warm and sunny with a lovely temperature between 60 and 70 F around 20-25 C and the air was just fresh and rejuvenating.
Still, people in Florida even with this amazing weather are using air conditioning in the car and at work and they keep their windows not just shut but they are tinted so that you can't even see what color is the sky: someone really needs to explain me why they are so afraid of the real air and the sunshine there in Florida!
If they only spent a week in the freezing cold Chicago they would appreciate much more how lucky they are to live in such a paradise.
I would go and live there myself if it wasn't for the fact that I would miss too much the “walking culture” considering that particularly in Florida they don't even go to the toilet without their car.
And I saw too many lizards (which I am so afraid of) every time I went there.
Anyway, the flight was quite pleasant on my way back to Chicago...the 3 hours didn't feel too long and I read my fashion magazines and my new book about Paris even if the people seating by the window kept their windows shut for the all duration of the flight and I could barely see what I was reading with the little light above my head: another demonstration of how afraid they are of not only the sunshine but the day light as well.
I just wonder why instead of Florida they don't all go to live in Ireland?...Over there they would have to put up with only 10-15 days of sunshine a year and I am sure that most of the Irish people would not mind to exchange homes with them.

The airport was all decorated for Valentine's Day with red hearts which was kinda cute and the flight attendants were wearing a lovely “Happy Valentine's Day” pin on their blouse.
We don't have all those hearts display in Italy, but we do have couples kissing and making out in public (and not just on Valentine's Day) while here is hard to even see people holding hands.
If you kiss in public anywhere in the USA they would feel almost offended by your act and tell you to “get a room”...and in Italy instead we think how lovely they are and how in love they must be...
In the USA you can definitely do everything you want, but in your own home and you have to keep it to yourself!

It is already time to land so I am going to write more on my next flight to London, coming soon...
