Chicago-London BA-AA July 4- 21 2011
(First article not entirely written from the plane)
It was absolutely perfect to travel with BA from Chicago to London on July 4th.
I paid for an upgrade in business and had a truly pleasant flight.
I strongly believe it is absolutely worth it to pay the extra money for more comforts particularly when you are traveling long distance.
I remember Rene’ Zelleweger in the movie “Jerry Mc Guire” looking over the first class and saying to her son: -It used to be a better meal, now it is a better life-.
It means a lot to be treated with respect and pampered a bit when you are stuck in a plane for 7 or more hours of flight.
You should be treated well when you travel economy class too: tickets are not cheap (long distance are at least $1000.00 or more) and I don’t see why people have to travel in tiny chairs with no space for their legs or arms and be most of the times treated with not much respect by the cabin crew. Instead the amount of respect you receive in a plane (and actually in the all airport) is directly proportional to which cabin you are flying: economy class (little respect), business class (some respect), first class (respect).
Oh well, I always say – as I travel a lot- I don’t want to be super rich, just rich enough to be able to fly first class! And it’s not really about luxury that I care about. For me it’s just about having a pleasant time, a comfortable seat, a decent meal, no kids screaming right behind you…that’s all I ask for when I travel.
And as much as I had a nice flight on my way to London with BA business class I absolutely can’t say the same for my AA economy flight back to Chicago. 3 kids were crying or screaming, (their parents were loud as well of course!) the food was horrible and could not rest for a moment…arrived home with a big headache! And Chicago was waiting for me with "just" 103F!
